US: Private equity firm Rockbridge has opened The Pennywell St. Louis Downtown, a Hilton Hotel, operated by HEI Hotels & Resorts.
The Pennywell is housed in the former Merchants-Laclede National Bank. Designer Jacky Arena Interiors oversaw the renovation.
Now complete, the hotel offers 195 rooms, a lobby lounge, coworking spaces, a bar and restaurant, and a fitness centre.
The Pennydrop Bar + Kitchen will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a focus on shareable plates. The “Bankers Hour” drinks menu offers a curated selection of rotating whiskey cocktails, beers and wines.
Brian Schneider, general manager at the hotel, said: “We are thrilled to launch this exciting new chapter for this historic building as The Pennywell St. Louis Downtown, a Hilton Hotel. Our guests will be fully immersed in the best that St. Louis has to offer. The Pennywell fully embraces the spirit of St. Louis, making it the perfect home base for exploring the city.”

HEI Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, will operate The Pennywell. The company owns and/or operates over 90 luxury, upper-upscale and upscale independent hotels and branded hotels and resorts throughout the US.
Rockbridge has recently announced the opening of The Junto in Columbus, Ohio, in three months time.
