Faena New York has debuted in Manhattan, bringing the hospitality group’s culture-focused concept to the city. The project follows earlier hotels in Buenos Aires and Miami Beach.
The 120-room property, designed with the Bjarke Ingels Group and interior collaborator Peter Mikic, features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Hudson River and the New York skyline. Public areas include The Cathedral lobby with a mural by Argentine artist Diego Gravinese, dining venues, performance spaces and wellness facilities. A two-story Faena Suite serves as the top accommodation, with three bedrooms, a grand piano and a terrace with city views.
Alan Faena, the brand’s founder, said, “New York City has historically been the center of innovation, creativity and pushing boundaries. Faena embraces and amplifies that spirit, offering a touch of magic that honors and contributes to the vibrant legacy of New York.”
The property’s signature restaurant, La Boca, is led by Argentine chef Francis Mallmann and focuses on Patagonian fire-cooking. The restaurant’s interiors include murals by Edgardo Gimenez and chandeliers by Alberto Garutti.
Other public spaces include The Living Room, with two Deco-style bars, a terrace overlooking the High Line and murals by Juan Gatti. El Secreto and La Cava offer additional nightlife and wine experiences, respectively. A wellness space, Tierra Santa Healing House, is scheduled to open later in 2025, and Faena Theater is expected in 2026.
The nonprofit Faena Art will oversee programming in the property’s public plaza. Its work centers on free, site-specific commissions and community engagement.
Exclusive vegan silk kimonos
To mark the opening, Faena partnered with luxury apparel brand niLuu on an exclusive kimono that will be placed in guest suites. The Faena x niLuu design features the brand’s red palette with a marble effect, a black panther motif and the Faena logo. It is made from vegan silk, a 100% Cupro fabric derived from cotton linter, which is biodegradable and produced in closed-loop facilities.
Nilufer Bracco, founder/creative director, niLuu, said, “The Faena x niLuu kimonos feature bold black panthers from Juan Gatti’s iconic mural, brought to life on niLuu’s signature vegan silk that embodies both luxury and creativity. Placed in the suites alongside matching vegan silk sleep masks, these pieces are designed to bring both artistry and comfort and offer guests the most personal and luxurious experience—what we believe to be one of the most elevated hotel kimonos to date.”
A limited number of kimonos and matching sleep masks are also being produced for select clientele. Bracco added, “This robe transforms Gatti’s masterpiece into a wearable work of art, merging Faena’s world of art and opulence with niLuu’s commitment to timeless, elegant design.”
